Interesting thing is that I myself have been involved in both sides. I have been a software developer who works for a large company and also a student who works on my thesis with my classmates. There is a vast difference between the two different sides. But I think even these two sides are more alike than they might seem.
First, both software developers and students have to work really hard in order to complete a project in the shortest amount of time, like 4-5 hours a day, if we count sleeping time.
Both developers and students need to be well-organized and in order to avoid any troubles while working on a project, we need to avoid procrastination.
Mostly software developers work on their own, but if they want to work on something with their team, they need to prioritize.

The hardest part of working on a project is to find the bug which the team missed while testing the project.
The most important part of working on a project is to finish it in the shortest time.
Most software developers work in a company, but if they work on their own, they need to be organized.

We might have a different goal, but what we need to do in order to complete a project is still the same.
